Air Europe

Air Europe was a charter airline, started in 1978 and based at London Gatwick Airport. Operations began with three new Boeing 737-200 in May 1979. Later it became a scheduled carrier as well.

Air Europe was an innovative airline, becoming the first charter airline with brand new equipment and a high standard of service. The airline made a profit right from the beginning. It was the first airline to take advantage of the airline competition policy in Europe and the first to bring down business class fares within Europe. Its motto was "It's nice to fly with friends".

Air Europe ceased operations in March 1991 just after the start of the first Gulf War.
