The Alexander Julian Prize was established in 1985 by fashion designer Alexander Julian , Class of 19695. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill art department gives the award to an undergraduate student exhibiting an outstanding sense of design, which the faculty interprets as a mature integration of formal issues and content. The award is given to the undergraduate student who the UNC faculty believes has done the most outstanding work in studio art.
