A chronology of the Bible's major events and figures largely from the Old Testament, New Testament, and Mishna sources. Dates are typically estimates which have been corroborated based in archaeological research.

Bronze age

• 2000-1700 BCE (circa) Middle Bronze Age Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac and Jacob
• 1700-1300 BCE (circa) Bronze Age Israelites in Egypt
• 1250 BCE (circa) Exodus from Egypt and travel to Canaan by Moses

Second temple period

• 515 BCE Second Temple completed under Persians
• 332 BCE Alexander the Great conquers Israel
• 323 BCE Alexander the Great dies in Babylon
• 200 BCE Septuagint written in Alexandria
• 167 BCE Hasmonean uprising
• 161 BCE Roman Empire is ruled by a triumvirate
• 80 BCE Roman defeat of the Maccabees
• 65 BCE Syria becomes a Roman province
• 63 BCE Roman conquest of Judea
• 37-4 BCE Herod the Great is Roman ruler

New Testament period

• ~4 BCE Birth of Jesus.
• ~33 CE Crucifixion of Jesus

Common era

• 66-70 Revolt against Rome
• 70 Destruction of the Second Temple by Titus
• 135 Bar Kokhba revolt
• 200 Mishnah compiled
• 300 (circa) Codex Vaticanus written
