Bobby Troup (October 18, 1918 - February 7, 1999, born Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) was an actor, jazz pianist and songwriter. His most notable songs were "(Get your kicks on) Route 66", a hit for Nat King Cole and one of the first songs recorded by the Rolling Stones. He also wrote the title song sung by Little Richard for the first-run rock and roll movie "The Girl Can't Help It ". His song "The Meaning of the Blues" appeared on the Miles Davis album, Miles Ahead.
Troup was married to torch singer Julie London with whom he starred in the 1970s TV series Emergency!
