Breaking the Ice (ENT episode)

Break the Ice is the 7th episode (production #108) of the television series Star Trek: Enterprise.

Synopsis

The Enterprise encounters a comet and Malcolm & Travis stop to mine some Eisilium . To their surprise, the Vulcan ship Ti'Mur stops by to also investigate the comet — except they are there to observe the Enterprise. The real reason they are there is awaiting a reply from T'Pol about a personal matter.

Plot

Details:

  • Enterprise runs into the comet
  • Travis and Malcolm opt to head to surface of the comet to mine Eisilium
  • The Vulcan ship Ti'Mur stops by to "observe" the Enterprise with the comet
  • Trip & Hoshi discover a secret/encrypted transmission from the Vulcan ship to T'Pol
  • Senior staff addresses letters to children Mrs. Malvin's 4th grade class, Woorly Elementary School, Kenmar, Ireland
  • Travis & Malcolm make a snow man
  • Hoshi decrypts message; Trip discovers T'Pol's secret: she's to marry Koss
  • Trip tells T'Pol that he read the letter
  • Archer invites Captain Vanik aboard
  • T'Pol confides in Trip about her arranged marriage since he already knows
  • Travis injuries his knee trying to get out of the blasted hole
  • Travis & Malcolm try to out run the sunrise on the comet
  • Travis & Malcolm's shuttle falls into a hole when trying to leave
    • Can't get out on their own
    • In a bad position for the Enterprise's grappler
    • Vulcan ship pulls them out with their tractor beam
