Usually one-day internationals must be played by the top team representing one cricketing nation. The International Cricket Council has enforced this rigorously, denying ODI status to games played by "Australia A" sides, and to the "Top One-Day nation" vs "Rest of World" series scheduled to be played in 2005. The ICC, however, made an exception for 2 games played by an ICC World XI against an ACC Asian XI. These games were the centrepiece of the World Cricket Tsunami Appeal to raise funds for World Vision following the Indian Ocean tsunami of 26 December 2004. The 11 players who represented the ACC Asian XI in the first game are listed below.
