Coat of arms of Western Sahara

The coat of arms of Western Sahara

The coat of arms of Western Sahara is a revolutionary symbol created by the Polisario Front, the resistance group/political party in the territory. It depicts two crossed rifles with the flag of Western Sahara hanging from either gun. Above the guns are a red crescent and star, the symbol in the center of the flag. Surrounding the guns and cresecent are two golden olive branches, one on either side. At the bottom is a phrase written in black on a red banner in Hassaniya Arabic. This is dialect spoken by Saharawis, the native population of Western Sahara.
