Cockspur Rum

Cockspur Rum is a rum company that was established in the Eastern Carribean island nation of Barbados in 1884. Barbados is considered the birthplace of rumbullion as it was originally called nearly 350 years ago. Danish merchant Valdemar Hanschell established a liquor store in the 1800's which became the birthplace of Cockspur Rum. Cockspur blends its rum while aging it in oak barrels using the pure coral water of the Caribbean, a unique ingredient known to Cockspur. Cockspur contains forty three percent alcohol by volume.

Cockspur is Barbados' leading golden rum and has won numerous awards internationally. These awards include the "International Wine and Spirit Competition's" Gold Medal in 1981, 1984, and 1989. It is considered a five star rum with a proud rooster as its emblem.

Cockspur has recently entered a three year deal with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to sponsor the National Club Championship. This has been renamed the Cockspur Cup for 2004. Cockspur is again involved with the ECB with whom they had a deal between 1987 and 1990.
