Cork School of Music

The Cork School of Music is located in the centre of Cork city in Ireland. It is more commonly known as Moore's Hotel and Connolly Hall (the two premises serving as the location for the college). Plans for a new building were announced in October 1999, but funding from government has not been forthcoming, as of 2004, despite a lengthy wait. The college was founded in 1878 and in 1993 became a constituent college of Cork Institute of Technology. It is well-regarded in Ireland, offering four year Bachelor of Music degrees. Subjects taught include performance, composition, ensemble work, keyboard skills, musicianship, music history, music technology, Irish traditional music studies and more. The school has a very large staff, many of whom teach part-time in their area of musical expertise in addition to working as full-time musicians.
