Creep

The term creep has several meanings:

  • it is a derogatory slang term describing a type of person; e.g. "She is such a creep"
  • it is a deliberately slow and quiet method of walking or moving; "He was trying to creep up on me and scare me!"
  • it refers to the slow movement of something; e.g. "The boat took forever to get here. It was just creeping along"
  • it is a failure mode of polymers at room temperature, as well as metals and ceramics under high temperatures.
  • it is a project management problem where the objectives of a project expand beyond the initial project limits as the project progresses
  • it is the slow progression of rock and other debris down a low grade slope; it can also refer to slow deformation of such materials as a result of prolonged pressure and stress (also known as downhill creep)
  • it is the title of different songs by musical groups Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots, and TLC.
  • a 2004 horror film, Creep
  • in 1972 The Committee to Re-elect the President was know as CREEP.
