Cres

Cres is an Adriatic island in Croatia. Its one of the northern islands and can be reached via ferry from the island Krk or from the mainland (line Brestova-Porozina). New measurements of croatian islands showed that Cres is the largest Croatian island, overtaking just a bit smaller Krk, which was before thaught to be the largest island in Croatia. Italian name for Cres is Cherso. Cres and the neighbouring island of Loinj once used to be one whole island, but were devided by channel. Cres's only fresh water source is lake Vransko jezero. The town of Cres on the same island is inhabited by 2,959 people (2001).
