Cycloprop-tri-ene

Cycloprop-tri-ene is a carbon trimer of the molecular formula C3. It is composed of three carbon atoms in an electroneutral cyclic configuration wherein all carbon atoms are double bonded to each other.

Cycloprop-tri-ene is the smallest triene molecule and is unstable due to strong steric hindrance. Cycloprop-tri-ene was investigated by Professor Emeritus Phillip S. Skell of Pennsylvania State University in the 1960s. Cycloprop-tri-ene has been observed in interstellar space.
