Dave Lombardo

Dave Lombardo is a drummer, best known as a founding member of Slayer. The talented Lombardo is widely regarded as one of the most powerful and creative metal drummers (his work with Slayer has been called "astonishingly innovative"[1]). He is capable of performing difficult beats at remarkably fast speeds for prolonged periods. Lombardo is also very open-minded, and eager to record in challenging, unusual settings.

Lombardo was born February 16, 1965 in Havana, Cuba. At age two his parents left Cuba and made way for California. At a young age Lombardo started to play drums, which lead to a successful career in music.

After cofounding metal pioneers Slayer in 1983, Lombardo played with them until 1992, leaving to found Grip Inc. . In 2001 Lombardo joined Slayer for the God Hates Us All tour--initially as a short-term fill-in--but has remained with the group to the present.

He is also known for his work with other musicians such as Fantômas, Testament, Apocalyptica, John Zorn and recently, recording Drums of Death with DJ Spooky.
