David V of Georgia

David V of Georgia (d. 1155), from the Bagrationi dynasty, was king of Georgia in 1154-1155.

He was an elder son of King Demetre I. Fearing that Demetre would make his younger son Giorgi a heir to the throne, David attempted a revolt in 1130. Ultimately, he forced his father to abdicate and David became a king in 1154. However, sudden death put the end to his short-lived reign six months later in 1155.

He was survived by a son Demna (Demetre), the future pretender to the Georgian throne.
