DeVry University


DeVry University is a system of career colleges in the United States and Canada. Its main programs of study are business administration, Computer engineering technology , Electrical engineering technology , Network communcation management , and other technology related studies. In addition, they are also just beginning to form a biomedical department.

The private university operates on a trimester course schedule and, if taken full time, a person can graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in about three years or less (depending on the major).

History of DeVry

  • 1931 First school opened by Dr. Herman A. DeVry , who named it for his friend Dr. Lee DeForest, as DeForest Training School in Chicago.
  • 1953 Renamed DeVry Technical Institute.
  • 1966 Acquired by Bell and Howell Education Group.
  • 1968 Renamed DeVry Institute of Technology.
  • 1987 Merged with Keller Graduate School of Management.
  • 1996 Acquired Becker CPA Review (now Becker Professional Review).
  • 2002 Combined schools renamed DeVry University.
  • 2003 Acquired Ross University (School of Medicine and School of Veterinary Medicine )
