There are currently two Deputy leadership positions in the State of Israel.
The post of Deputy Prime Minister is held by Likud Deputy Leader Ehud Olmert. Following Ariel Sharon's bringing the Israeli Labour Party into his coalition government however, the Knesset approved a second deputy position, Vice Premier (Prime Minister and Premier in Israel refer to the same title), allowing the two parties to smoothly form the new government. The current Vice Premier is Labour Party leader Shimon Peres.
