Dhimotiki

Dhimotiki (Greek Δημοτική, IPA //) or Demotic Greek is the standard language of Greece. Dhimotiki, based on the dialect of Athens, was standardized in the early 20th century. It is now (again) the official language of Greece, replacing the "purist" (Katharevousa) form which had previously been the official language.

English words in the last decades have been adapted to Greek phonology and grammar. English loan words are found mainly in slang used by young people and in technical terminology.
