Dogfight

This is about the film; for aerial combat between military aircraft, see dog fight, for the blood sport of two dogs fighting, see Dog fighting.

Dogfight is a film set during the time of the Vietnam War, 1963 to 1966 starring River Phoenix and Lili Taylor. Set in San Francisco, it explores the love of a young marine, Eddie Birdlace, on his way to Vietnam and a young woman, Rose Fenny. The reference to "dogfight" is to an "ugly date" contest which Lili Taylor, if she worked hard at it, barely qualified for (although she "wins").

Both lovers are portrayed as innocent and inexperienced, Eddie Birdlace as angry and inept, Rose Fenny as idealistic but unsophisticated; they find their way.
