Dunkirk

Dunkirk is the English name for the city of Dunkerque in northern France: see Dunkirk, France. It is famous as the site of the Battle of Dunkirk in World War II. The name Dunkirk is derived from Dutch (Duinkerke) and is a combination of dune (duin) and church (kerk).
