Dzialdowo

Działdowo is a town in north-central Poland with 20,700 inhabitants (1995).

Situated in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Ciechanow Voivodship (1975-1998).

History

Since January 17 1920 in Poland. During WW2, German Concentration camp Soldau, 13,000 murdered out of 30,000 prisoners. The known victims include:

  • Saint Antoni Julian Nowowiejski (1858-1841), bishop
  • Saint Leon Wetmański(1886-1941), bishop
  • Saint Mieczysława Kowalska, sister (1902-1941)
