(Redirected from ESCWA)

The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA or ESCWA) was established in 1973 (then as the UN Economic Commission for Western Asia) to encourage economic cooperation among its member states. The name was changed to the current in 1985. It is one of five regional commissions under the administrative direction of United Nations headquarters. The ESCWA has 13 member States, and reports to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
