Eagle Village, Alaska

Eagle Village is a census-designated place located in Southeast Fairbanks Census Area, Alaska. As of the 2000 census, the population of the CDP is 68.

Eagle Village is located 13 km (8 miles) west of the border between Alaska and the Yukon Territory of Canada on the Taylor Highway, next to Eagle. Eagle Village was called Johnny's in the late 1800s and early 1900s by some people, after its chief at the time, known as John in English.

Eagle Village is located at 64°46'53" North, 141°6'53" West (64.781324, -141.114728).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 49.4 km² (19.1 mi²). 49.4 km² (19.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 68 people, 32 households, and 14 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1.4/km² (3.6/mi²). There are 50 housing units at an average density of 1.0/km² (2.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 55.88% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 44.12% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 0.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 32 households out of which 25.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 25.0% are married couples living together, 12.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 56.3% are non-families. 43.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.13 and the average family size is 3.00.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 25.0% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 39.7% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 4.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 119.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 142.9 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $6,875, and the median income for a family is $31,250. Males have a median income of $40,000 versus $47,917 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $13,887. 55.7% of the population and 20.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 35.3% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
