Ealhswith

Ealhswith of the Gaini was born c. 852 in Gaini , Mercia. Her mother was Eadburga Saxe-Mercia, her father was Aethelred of Mercia, Ealdorman of the Gaini Mucil .

She married on 868, to Alfred the Great.

After Alfred's death in 899, she became a nun. She died on December 5, 905, and is buried in St. Mary's Abbey , Winchester, Hampshire.
