Earnest Byner

Earnest Alexander Byner (born September 15, 1962 in Milledgeville, Georgia) is a former American football running back.

He attended East Carolina University and was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the 10th round (280th pick overall) of the 1984 NFL Draft.

He played for the Browns(1984-1988; 1994-1995), Washington Redskins (1989-1993) and the Baltimore Ravens (1996-1997) in the NFL.

Although a productive and popular player with the Browns, he is probably best remembered for one play, The Fumble, in which he lost the ball on the 3 yard line while attempting to score on the Denver Broncos during the 1987 AFC Championship game.

He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1990 and 1992 with the REdskins.

He worked in the Ravens front office after retiring as a player, and is now an assistant coach with the Redskins.
