Edefors

Edefors is a parish of Boden Municipality in Norrbotten County, Sweden. The parish was created when the parish of Överluleå was split into two parts, 1891. The northern part was named Edefors beacause of the rapids in the river of Luleå. The population is 1711 (year 2000); in about 1955 it had about 4000 and then it was a municipality of its own. The main villages are Harads, 614 inhabitants and Bodträskfors, 236 inhabitants.

The author Eyvind Johnson, was born in the small village of Näsberg, in the northeastern part of the parish (Nobel Prize in Literature 1974).
