Edison Denisov

Edison Denisov (Эдисон Денисов, April 6, 1929 - November 24, 1996) was a Russian composer from Tomsk, Siberia. He studied mathematics, before deciding to spend his life composing. He wrote a flute concerto for Aurčle Nicolet , a violin concerto for Gidon Kremer, and also works for the oboist Heinz Holliger and the clarinettist Eduard Brunner .

His sombre but striking Requiem is based on a multi-lingual text (English, French, German and Latin) based on works by Fransciso Tanzer , and was given its first performance in Hamburg in 1980.

In later life Denisov moved to France, where he died in Paris in 1996.
