Enterprise Rent-A-Car

The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Company is a St. Louis, Missouri, based rental car company serving customers in the U.S., Canada, Germany, and the U.K. According to Auto Rental News, their 2004 (fiscal year ending July 31) U.S. revenue is estimated at $5.81 billion, with 540,226 cars in service. They have 5,400 "local market" locations, and 300+ "airport" locations. They are the largest rental car company in North America and one of the largest privately held firms in the U.S.

Enterprise specializes in serving the "insurance replacement" market and has traditionally not been strong in the airport market, although they are now trying to grow in this segment. The Hertz Corporation is aggressively moving into the neighborhood insurance replacement market and directly challenging Enterprise.
