Yevno Azef (Evno Fishelevich Azef) (1869-1918), organiser of the Fighting Organisation of the Socialist-Revolutionary Party, which was responsible for the most spectacular assassinations of imperial officials in 1904 and 1905, later turned out to be playing the double role of terrorist and police agent since (1908), drafted by Colonel Sergei Zubatov in 1890s. He was exposed by the persistent investigations of Vladimir Burtsev, and the result was a resounding scandal.
