Fle3

Fle3 is a Web-based learning environment. Specifically, Fle3 is server software for computer supported collaborative learning (CSCL). Fle3 is open source and free software released under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).

Fle3 is designed to support learner and group centered work that concentrates on creating and developing expressions of knowledge (i.e. knowledge artefacts) and design. Fle3 supports study groups to implement creative problem solving methods and scientific method in the inquiry process.

History

Development of Fle3 was started 1998 in the Media Lab, Helsinki, Finland. Fle3 is based on the Future Learning Environment concept promoting learning prcess which differs from traditional teacher and didactic-based teaching. In the Future Learning Environment students and teachers are both active subjects and the object of their activity is knowledge. Future Learning Environment concept contains several models of learning and Fle3 software designed to full fill the needs of the methods.
