Florida Blazers

The Florida Blazers were a franchise in the World Football League, a failed attempt to create a second major professional American football league in the United States in competition with the established National Football League. They played in both WFL seasons, the 1974 season in which they finished as runners-up, and in the 1975 season, which was only partially completed when the league ceased operation, this same franchise competed as the San Antonio Wings. The team was coached by well-known professional and collegiate football figure Jack Pardee. Near the end of the 1974 season it was announced that the team was to be moving to Nashville, Tennessee but nothing further ever came of the announcement. Home games were played in Orlando at what was then the Tangerine Bowl.
