Heimssın, the cross-political organisation of Icelandic Eurosceptics, was founded in June 2002. The organisation is opposed to Icelandic membership of the European Union.
Ragnar Arnalds, former MP and Minister of Finance, has served as chairman of the organisation from its foundation. At its annual general meeting in May 2004 Arnalds was reelected in office. Vice chairman is Sigurğur Kári Kristjánsson, MP.
Members of the organisation come from all over the Icelandic political spectrum except for those people harbouring some kind of extremist views. However, such people have no following in Iceland.
Heimssın is a member of TEAM (The European Alliance of EU-critical Movements).
