Henry George Kendall (1874 - November 29, 1965) was an English sea captain who was the commander of the steamship RMS Empress of Ireland which sank in Canada's St. Lawrence River in 1914 with the loss of over 1,000 lives. It has been pointed out that there were just as many passengers lost as on the Titanic two years earlier. The Empress sank after colliding with another ship. Captain Kendall was cleared of all charges in the disaster but never returned to sea. He died in an English nursing home in 1965.
