Jewish Chronicle

Founded in 1841, the Jewish Chronicle (affectionately known as The JC) is the United Kingdom's national Jewish newspaper. It has played a central part in the development of British Jewry and has the distinction of being the oldest continuously published Jewish newspaper in the world. It is entirely independent and is owned by The Kessler Foundation , a charitable trust which has overall control of the newspaper and its assets. This has helped to protect it from hostile takeover, enabling it to uphold its editorial independence. The Chronicle is printed every Friday, providing news, opinions and social, cultural and sport reports, as well as an editorial and a spectrum of reader opinions on its letters page.

More information on the Chronicle's history and development is available in The Jewish Chronicle and Anglo Jewry by David Cesarani (Cambridge University Press).
