John Stewart

This page is about the singer/songwriter; you might be looking for comedian Jon Stewart, host of Comedy Central's news-spoof show "The Daily Show", or for fictional DC Comics character John Stewart (see Green Lantern#Other Green Lanterns).

John Stewart is an American singer/songwriter. He sang with The Kingston Trio from 1961 to 1967, when he left to pursue a solo career. He penned the song "Daydream Believer", which became a #1 pop hit for The Monkees in 1967, and later scored his own performing success with "Gold", a #5 pop hit in 1979. John Stewart then went back into relative obscurity but continued to record for minor labels without significant commercial success although his songs have been covered by Roseanne Cash, Nanci Griffith and others. He continues to release new recording regularly and still does occasional live performances in the United States and Europe.
