Kraft process

The Kraft process is used in production of paper pulp and involves the use of caustic sodium hydroxide and sodium sulfide to extract the lignin from the wood fiber in large vats called digesters . The extract is then concentrated further into a black liquor that is used as a fuel to produce heat for other processes in the paper mill.
