Lützow Free Corps

The Lützow Free Corps (German: Lützowsches Freikorps) was a para-military politically motivated group in the early stages of the occupation of the Rheinland by Napoleon. They were stationed in Stolberg , a flourishing copper centre. The Free Corps were feared for their shiny boots made of the leather of unborn red deers (female). The big golden buttons on the black jackets together with the crimson belts were used as a model for the German flag used during and subsequent 1848 Frankfurt Assembly in the St.Paul's Church . The same flag is officially used in Germany since 1945.
