Liuzhou () is a city in north-central Guangxi province, in southern China. Population: 1.4 million. Area: 5,250 kmē.
Geography
Liuzhou is located on the banks of the winding Liu River , approximately 255 km away from Nanning. Liuzhou is the fist city that Liu River passes. Therefore, the water here is very clear. Swimming in the river is a tradition of the city.
History
Liuzhou enjoys a long history of more than 2100 years. Liuzhou is the famous historic and cultural city named by the state council. The most famous historic figure is Liu Zongyuan, who was a famous poet and politician in Tang Dynasty and was died in Liuzhou.
Economy
It is the second largest city in Guangxi and the main industrial center.
In ??, the total industrial output was 65.56 billion RMB (about US$ 7.9 billion), which was nearly 1/3 of the total industrial output of Guangxi autonomous region. The tertiary sector, however, is far less prosperous than the industrial sector.
Tourism
As with much of Guangxi, the landscape around Liuzhou is a mix of rolling hills, mountain peaks, caves and karst scenery.

Liuzhou was the birthplace of Li Ning (born 1963), gymnast and entrepreneur.
