Luri

Luri is a dialect of Persian language.

Some scholars use the term Persid for the group of languages to which Persian and Luri (as wll as Bashkardi, Larestani and Kumzari) belong. Luri and the rest of the Persid languages belong to the South-eastern branch of the Iranian languages. Other Iranian languages such as Kurdish and Gilaki belong to the South-western branch of the Iranian languages. Luri is mainly spoken in the Iranian provinces of Lorestan, Ilam, Chahar Mahaal and Bakhtiari, Kohkiluyeh and Buyer Ahmad and parts of Khuzestan.

A subgroup of the Roma people are known as Luri, possibly because their ancestors had settled in Persia after leaving India and picked up the Luri dialect

Luri is also a commune of the Haute-Corse département in France, on the island of Corsica.
