Neman River

The Neman (Lithuanian: Nemunas; Belarusian: Нёман (Nyoman); Russian: Неман (Neman); Polish: Niemen; German: Memel; Swedish Njemen) is a major Eastern European River rising in Belarus and flowing through Lithuania before draining into the Baltic Sea near Klaipeda. The total length of the Neman is 937 km. Part of the Neman serves as the border between Russia's Kaliningrad oblast (formerly northern East Prussia) and Lithuania.

The largest tributary is the River Neris (Viliya).

The largest cities on the Neman are Hrodna (Belarus), Alytus and Kaunas (Lithuania) and Sovetsk (Russia).
