Newbury Comics is a New England-based music retailer. Newbury Comics began as a comic book vendor on Newbury Street in Boston. It was founded in 1976 by two MIT students. Over the next few decades, the focus of the company changed from comics to music (although comics are still sold there, but in much more limited amounts). There are now 24 stores in four states (three in New Hampshire, two in Rhode Island, one in Maine, and 18 in Massachusetts).
Newbury Comics is today best known as a vendor of low-priced CDs and other music-related goods. Newbury Comics sells LPs, CDs, singles and DVDs. It also offers T-shirts, buttons, pins, and posters with rock or movie themes.
