Perseus Arm

The Perseus Arm (labeled "+I") is a spiral arm of the Milky Way galaxy with a radius of 10.7 ± 1.0 kpc. The arm is located between the Cygnus Arm (Outer Arm) and the Orion Arm (Local Arm). It has been speculated that the Local Arm might be a branch of Perseus, but remains unknown. The arm is named after its proximity to the Perseus constellation.

A number of Messier objects are found in the Perseus Arm: M1, M36, M37, M38, M52, M103.
