Pipe Mania

(Redirected from Pipe Dream)

Pipe Mania, also known as Pipe Dream, was a puzzle game in which the player must stop an overflow by assembling a sequence of pipes. The playing field consisted of a grid with a starting section of pipe already in place. After a certain amount of time, either water or ooze will start to flow from the starting pipe. To control it, the player must place sections of pipe from a queue onto a grid. A level is won if the liquid passes through a certain number of continous pipeline, before spilling out. The sections of pipe are varied, from simple straight sections and elbow joints, to cross sections and reserviors. As the levels progress, the amount of time before the liquid starts to flow will decrease, while the required length of pipe will increase. Some levels will have wall sections that allow the pipe connection to wrap around to the opposite wall.

Pipe Mania was developed in 1989 by The Assembly Line and was ported to many platforms, such as Amiga, Mac, and PC. The best known version is probably the one included in the Best of Windows Entertainment Pack.
