Hoisin sauce

(Redirected from Plum sauce)

Hoisin sauce (), also called plum sauce or Chinese barbecue sauce is a famous Chinese dipping sauce for dishes including Peking Duck and spring rolls. It is similar to the sweet noodle sauce (甜麵醬) but has the added ingredients of garlic, vinegar, and chiles. Additionally, it tastes less pungent than the sweet noodle sauce.

Hoisin is pronounced hoy-sin. The name plum sauce is a misnomer as there are no plums in hoisin sauce.
