Polkowice

Polkowice is a town in south-western Poland with 21,700 inhabitants (2004).

It is situated in the Lower Silesian Voivodship (since 1999), and was previously in Legnica Voivodship (1975–1998). Polkowice is among the richest cities in Poland and has been designated as the best administered Polish gmina on a couple of occasions. The relative success of a city is also due to fact that Polkowice is located in the industrial copper-mining area, with a copper-processing plants located in the Polkowice powiat.
