Providence College

Providence College is a Catholic college in Providence, Rhode Island, the state's capital city. Providence College is known for its programs in the liberal arts and sciences. The college was founded in 1917 and operates under the supervision of the Dominican Order of monks.

The Providence College campus is located about two miles (3.3 km) northwest of downtown Providence near River Avenue.

The school's men's and women's sports teams are called the Friars. All teams participate in the NCAA's Division I and in the Big East Conference, except for the hockey program, which competes in Hockey East.
