Public Safety

This is an article about the modern meaning of the term "public safety." See the Committee of Public Safety for the French Revolutionary governing body.

Public Safety is the protection of the general population from all manners of harm, danger, injury or damage. This protection is usually provided by those traditional organizations known as Emergency Services: the police, fire and rescue, and ambulance. Additional organizations may include consumer protection, the Emergency telephone number system, animal control officers, various utility inspectors, and others.
