History
The original Guangzhou school was founded in 1889 by local Chinese Baptists, and is the first Christian school in China founded by local Christians (and not foreign missionaries). The Guangzhou school was disbanded and students moved to Macau in January 1938 due to the spread of World War II to Southern China. The Guangzhou school was subsequently reopened after the war.
Macau School
The Guangzhou school was moved to Macau in 1938. It is now an integated grammar school with more than 3,000 students in its kindergarten, primary school, junior high and senior high sections.
Hong Kong School
A branch in Hong Kong was established in 1933. Initially, only primary school education was offered; a junior high school division was established in 1938, a senior high division was established in 1940. The school was suspended during Japanese occupation of Hong Kong during World War II. The present site, located at Pui Ching Road, Ho Man Tin (the road is named after the school), was established in 1952.
