Rajshahi is a city in southwestern Bangladesh. It yields a high crop of jute and oilseeds. It is situated on the river Padma . Rajshahi is the headquarter of Rajshahi Division, one of the six administrative divisions in Bangladesh. It is also one of the few metropolitan cities in the country, thus the city corporation is governed by the mayor, as opposed to the chairman as is the case for most towns.
