Ras Tanura

Ras Tanura (Aramco code: RT) (Arabic: رأس تنورة) is a coastal city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. It is a major oil port and oil operations center for the largest oil company in the world, Saudi Aramco. The largest oil refinery in the world is located in Ras Tanura.

Ras Tanura is located a short distance south of the industrial city "Jubail." Geographically, it is considered a small peninsula. However, because the oil tankers need deeper water, Aramco built numerous artificial islands. In addition, offshore oil rigs and production facilities are heavily used in the area, mostly by Saudi Aramco, Schlumberger, and Halliburton.

Ras Tanura is very similar to Dhahran. Ras Tanura is also a heavily fenced-in city, and only Saudi Aramco employees and their dependants may live inside. The residental area is called Najmah.
