Sagittarius Arm

The Sagittarius Arm or Sagittarius-Carina Arm (labeled "-I") is one of two major spiral arms of the Milky Way galaxy, along with the Cygnus Arm. The dense, inner arm of Sagittarius is located between the Scutum-Crux Arm and the Orion Arm. It is named after its proximity to the Sagittarius constellation, in the direction of the galactic center.

A number of Messier objects are found in the Sagittarius Arm: M8, M11, M16, M17, M18, M20, M21, M24, M26, M55.
